Co-founded ImTech. Led mechanical design from concept through manufacture of inkjet printers, inkjet test systems, calculators, portable computers and peripherals. Designed ink delivery system for thermal printhead test system and piezo drop-on-demand wide-format printer. Coordinated introduction of a high-volume manufacturing process. Designed firmware (EPLD, FPGA), analog and digital circuitry, power supplies and data acquisition systems for high precision, inkjet performance testers, printing mechanisms, ink delivery systems, and various automated manufacturing tools.

Materials Development Engineer, 33 years

Primary background in inkjet materials and process development with experience in nuclear, aerospace and electronics industries as R&D management and R&D/Manufacturing Engineering. Part of team to develop first high-resolution color inkjet cartridge. Developed industry-leading adhesives and protective coatings for inkjet products. (8 patents, 21 pending – inkjet technology, high-performance materials, electroluminescent stacks)

Jetting Scientist, 28 years

Printhead designer, device physicist and manufacturing engineer. Founding member of the project team that commercialized the first embodiment of Hewlett-Packard's thermal inkjet printhead technology in the early 1980's. Continued support of HP's inkjet manufacturing operations in Corvallis, Ireland, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Boise, and San Diego as microfluidics designer, thermal inkjet device physicist, and manufacturing engineer. B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and M.S. in Materials Science, UC Davis. (11 patents – inkjet technology)

Printer & Printhead Interaction Engineer/Product Support Engineer, 37 years

Broad inkjet and customer knowledge and experience. Developed writing system pen servicing algorithms for printers, based on tested needs of inks and printheads. Investigated root cause of printhead and printer failures in field applications. Served as inkjet technical advisor to CEO's Customer Advocacy Group, working directly with customers to solve technical problems. (6 patents – inkjet technology)

Computer Scientist, 25 years

Led software integration on wide-format, piezo-electric printer development. Created low-level drivers and control system for electronic testing of inkjet printheads. Wrote real-time O/S, device drivers, and sensor controls for laser-machining device, pollution supervising system, VT100-compatible terminal and several other complex systems.

Computer Scientist, 21 years

User interface and tester control application expert for inkjet performance testers used in advanced research and development environments. Wrote software for high-volume mass storage manufacturing. Extensive experience with Visual Basic 6 and .Net. Worked hands-on in process operations.

Chemical Engineer, 9 years

Formulated and tested UV-curable thermal inkjet inks. Conducted research on aqueous diblock copolymer solutions, examining their effectiveness as low-VOC coating components and response to changes in solution pH and ionic strength. Experience qualifying automotive coatings per ASTM methods. (Ph.D., Chemical Engineering, Univ. of Mass.)

Hardware Development Engineer, 20 years

Inkjet silicon micro-machining manufacturing, creating micro ink flow channels in silicon substrates. Provided orifice layer technologies for a new fully-integrated thermal inkjet design. Drove invention and fabrication of devices and processes to meet new FAB light modulator requirements. Coupled electro-piezo-mechano-fluidic modeling, fabrication, and testing of sputter-deposited piezo layers and sintered-brick piezo elements. (24 patents, 12 pending – inkjet processes and device-design, micro-fluidics, MEMS packaging)

Mechanical Engineer, 8 years

Designed shutter, air-cooling and light containment for UV curing system and service station for drop-on-demand piezo inkjet printer. Designed camera and LED mounting system for DBOS (drop observation tool.) Two publications on injection molding and hot embossing of micro and nano scale features. (M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Univ. of Mass.)
